Pre-Deployment Briefing (8 Apr 2026)

Deploying personnel must attend a pre-deployment briefing 60 to 30 days before departure. The briefing includes supporting agencies such as Base Legal Office, Public Affairs, Personal Financial Readiness and Military and Family Life Counselors. The Readiness portion of this briefing focuses on the Emotional Cycle of Deployment, coping mechanisms, and family support programs and services. This is a military appointment therefore member must be in uniform. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend.

TAP Initial Counseling (IC) - Step 1 (9 Apr 2026)

Initial Counseling (IC) is the first MANDATORY step of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) for ALL separating and retiring service members (No Exemptions). IC is to be completed NLT 365 days prior to the service member’s DOS. During the IC, service members will meet with a TAP Counselor to assess their preparedness for transition and establish a transition plan (This will include scheduling the service member’s Pre-Separation Counseling and TAP Curriculum Workshop).

Commander's Key Support Program (CKSP) Immersion Training

This training is for all new Key Support Liaison/ Key Support Mentor volunteers following the virtual Initial training or previously appointed program volunteers following a PCS. All volunteers must be officially appointed by a unit commander. This workshop meets the mandatory training requirements per DAFI 36-3009.

The Managing Your Education (MY) curriculum assists service members in identifying the higher education requirements that support their personal career goals. This two-day workshop is divided into the following topic areas: learning the basics, choosing a field of study, selecting an institution, gaining admission, and funding higher education. This workshop is beneficial for both service members attending college for the first time to those applying to graduate degree programs. Throughout the workshop, participants conduct research as each topic is presented and complete a comparison of at least two institutions of higher education.

TAP Career and Credential Exploration (C2E) 2-Day Track (28 May 2026)

The DOL Career and Credential Exploration (C2E) curriculum assists service members evaluate career options, gain information for training and employment, and identify the next steps to prepare for a transition into a high-quality civilian career. The workshop includes personalized career development assessments of occupational interests and aptitudes to help service members identify occupations that may be the right fit for them. Participants will be guided through a variety of career considerations, including labor market projections, education, apprenticeships, certifications, and licensure requirements.
